Quirky Country Music Song Day

It's Quirky Country Music Song Day, a holiday created with MY DAD in mind!!! Let me tell you a little bit about my dad. He loves to play guitar and he loves quirky country music songs. When he visits, he always brings his instrument and a playlist sure to have us rolling.

He once showed up with a song called "Coffee Makes me Poo." I kid you not. The girls adore their grandfather. There is no other like my dad. When I was growing up, he sang an old cowboy croon to wake me and my siblings up in the morning. "Git up you lazy cowboys, riiiiiiiiise and shiiiiine!" That particular ditty originated from a Sons of the Pioneers song. I love all the musical memories we have with my dad.

Now back to this national holiday called Quirky Country Music Song Day...

One of my personal favorite from back in the day was "Did I Shave My Legs for This?" Do you remember that one?

I did a little search on YouTube and found this video of a comedian listing some quirky country songs I'm sure my dad will be singing one day. The comedian then sings a funny song called "If My Nose was Running Money." I think you'll enjoy it!

Memory Day

It's Memory Day and I'm thinking about a day trip I took with my girls two years ago to the Texas Freshwater Fishery Center in Athens, Texas. This fun place offers an educational experience for people of all ages.
There are so many things to do and see, you might want to bring the camper and stay several days. Game warden memorial, stream exhibit, farm pond exhibit, hall of fame for fishermen, dive show, hatchery overlook, tram ride, bluegill spawning area, reservoir exhibit, alligator exhibit, wetlands trail, Texas giants exhibit, museum, record fish exhibit, conservation center....and a fishing pond!
It's cheaper than visiting the zoo, too!
Catch some memories!

Chocolate Caramel Day Recipe

It's Chocolate Caramel Day! I'm featuring a recipe I found on one of my favorite baking blogs - Roxana's Home Baking. Roxana is a self-taught baker who shares original and adapted recipes. I couldn't resist this one for carmelitas!

This is Roxana. She describes these delectable treats as, "Easy to make oatmeal cookie bars filled with gooey caramel and oozing chocolate, these carmelitas bars will make you weak to your knees!"

Pop on over to Roxana's website for the recipe and make the most of this national holiday dedicated to chocolate caramel desserts.
